"The Perfect Storm" — 08/03/10

Mr. Fitz (Ian Harding) and Aria have parted ways on “Pretty Little Liars,” but Zap2it caught up with “Liars” star Lucy Hale at the KTLA News Morning Show, where she laid the Mr. Fitz fears to rest.

“It’s not the end of the Fitz and Montgomery relationship,” Hale assures us. “There’s a little question about where he’s gone, is he gone for good? Because in the books he goes away and when he goes away, he goes away for good … but it’s not the end of it.”

It’s good to hear that Mr. Fitz will be back because Aria’s home life isn’t getting an easier.

“[The Montgomery family] is pretty much broken at this point … Everyone expected my dad to leave, but my mom goes away,” Hale says. “I’m trying to spend time with my dad, with my mom and take care of my brother and try to keep a sane head for myself.”

But the Tuesday (July 27) episode of “Liars” is not focusing much on Mr. Fitz or the Montgomery family. Instead, Alison’s memorial is front and center — and the introduction of Ali’s brother Jason (Parker Bagley).

“It’s supposed to be a happy day, remembering our memories and remembering her,” says Hale. “But her brother comes and is a completely different person from what we remember him as … He takes the whole memorial by the reins. There’s a lot of great stuff between him and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) that is sort-of a little questionable.”

Hale also teases the return of Officer Wilden (Bryce Johnson), who is giving hard looks at the girls, “especially Emily.” “He doesn’t let us get off very easily. He’s back with a force,” Hale tells us.

And in response to fan Biankha’s question, Hale says her favorite episode is “the Homecoming episode.”

“I loved the outfits and I loved the set. We don’t always get to come together, the whole cast, because we have our own separate storylines,” Hale explains. “In this one, literally probably every character was in that episode so that was really fun for me.”

“Pretty Little Liars” airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.

Chad Michael Murray back on TV? It’s true! Sadly, it’s not on “One Tree Hill,” but we’ll take what we can get. CMM will join “Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson and pop star/actress Christina Milian in the ABC Family original movie “Ex-Mas Carol.”

According to Just Jared Jr., the movie follows a gorgeous public relations maven who is immersed in her work, but gets a wake-up call after one of her clients falls into a coma and becomes a “Christmas Carol”-like ghost of Christmas past, present, and future, making her realize the error of her ways and reuniting with an angry ex-boyfriend. Essentially, it sounds like “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” mixed a little more closely with the original Charles Dickens source material, with a lady in the lead.

Ashley confirmed the news on her Twitter yesterday, first writing, “On my way to a photoshoot for a new movie)” then later clarifying, “For those asking…the movie is called Ex-mas Carol…it stars myself Christina Milian and Chad Michael Murray =D.”

It’s no secret that the new ABC Family series Pretty Little Liars is a big hit.

Shay Mitchell stars as Emily Fields, the sweetest of Rosewood High’s pretty little liars, who struggles with her sexuality when a friendship with neighbor Maya takes an unexpected turn.

The 23-year-old actress talked to Parade.com about why the show is on its way to becoming the next Gossip Girl. Plus, what she hopes audiences will get from her character’s complicated storyline.

“I knew that the book series had a huge following already, but to know that they felt good about the show and that they really enjoyed it was awesome. It’s been great to know that the age groups watching the show are all over the map. We’re getting an older audience that I wouldn’t have expected in the beginning.”

She’s a quick study.
“I read the series after I was cast. I only knew the backstory of my character when I was in the auditioning process, and after I was cast and found out about the book series I got all of them. And let’s just say I’m as big a fan as anyone else. They’re really great books.”

“Pretty Little Liars” newcomer Brendan Robinson has high hopes for his character Lucas becoming romantically involved with Hanna (Ashley Benson).

“With every episode, it draws closer and closer to that. There’s some chemistry there, definitely,” Robinson tells Zap2it. “I know that Lucas already has big plans. He would jump at the chance to [be with Hanna]. And I think Hanna is coming to terms with her attraction towards Lucas.”

Brendan thinks the attraction between Lucas and Hanna is a universal theme of high school.

“Hanna will get pressure from people like Mona that she’s going out with somebody who’s less popular than she is. I think it’s something that a lot of people struggle with at that age. Trying to do the cool thing as opposed to what they feel,” says Robinson.

The girls go “glamping” as A’s threats escalate and the FBI arrives in Rosewood, PA, in “Keep Your Friends Close,” the mid-season finale of ABC Family’s hit original series, “Pretty Little Liars,” premiering Tuesday, August 10th (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT).A marathon of the first nine episode of “Pretty Little Liars” will air from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM ET/PT leading into the mid-season finale.

When the discovery of a new piece of evidence about Alison’s disappearance brings the FBI to town, the last thing the girls want to do is go “glamping” (glam camping) for Mona’s birthday party. But when they get a text that insinuates that “A” will be at the party, Spencer gets the idea that it will be their chance to finally put an end to the threats. Once at Camp Mona, not even the mani/pedi station can lift the girls’ spirits when the evening takes a dangerous turn.

Meanwhile, the Marin financial situation is pushing Ashley to the brink.

“Pretty Little Liars” will return with 12 all-new one-hour episodes in early 2011 only on ABC Family.
